construction:

First of all: I don`t know the exact translation from german into english for some words. Please excuse my worse english.
For example: With "U-splint" (I hope it is the right word) I mean something where the acrylic glass is being held with and where it runs It looks like this in the cross-section:

x
right: double-splint
left: U-splint

Please report spelling-mistakes to me: georg@hamsterpardies.de thank you very much.

Here you see a sketch of the hamsters home. The bottom is made of plastic coated wood. The grey strips in the picture are the U-splints I have mentioned above. They are made of aluminium. At the top and the side, there are mesh covered are gaps for air circulation. At the bottom, there is a wooden strip which prevents the sawdust (or what ever you use) from falling out of the cage. The strip is just clamped in! The idea is, that you can remove the strip when cleaning the cage. So you can easily sweep the sawdust out of the hamsters home.

The edges are sealed with aquaria silicone. This prevents the humidity from reaching the wood. Please make sure that you put the silicone into the edges like you can see it in the picture (cross-section) below. This keeps the hamsters off from nibbling on the silicone. You can easily reach this by using a wet finger.

In the next sketch you see how to saw and where the holes for the screws should being drilled in the piece of woods. The text is in german (but not so important), and the measurements are in cm. It should just give you an idea how it shall look like.

Heres what you need:

This animation should give you an idea of how to put the thing together. Important: The acrylic glass runs in the splints and is not being fixed. As well as the wooden strip in the front. It is just being clamped in, so that you can easily remove it when cleaning the hamsters home.

The mesh and the splints are fixed with aquaria silicone. This sticks perfectly!

Here you see the air-gap covered with aliminium-mesh:

This is how the finished cage could look like:

It is decorated with apple tree branches where the Hamsters can nibble at.

I hope it was readable somewhat. Please write me if you have any questions or suggestions. Thank you very much.
